Group
Projects Our participants are involved in every step of the process, from initial planning, through implementation, creation, installation, and even the advertising and promotion of the work. Our group projects have used a vast array of different materials, from ceramics, mosaics, metal, wood, and natural materials such as willow. Past Projects
Big Draw Project The Big Draw was a Nationwide month-long season of drawing events for people of all ages and abilities. Over 1000 venues took part, using drawing, painting and a vast range of other media to connect visitors with museum and gallery collections, urban and rural spaces – and the wider community. Louisa was interviewed by Radio Coventry & Warwickshire on Oct 21st about Escape's contribution to this event. The work produced has been drawn together to create a large collage of images from the work produced and is on display as part of Visual Arts Forum Exhibition at Stratford Civic Hall until January.
Growth Growth was Escape's tenth anniversary exhibition event displaying work developed in a range of media; clay, willow, fabrics and photography. and will focus on the creative use of recycled materials by participants of all three Escape venues. The exhibition was held at Stratford prestigious Gallery (at the Leisure Centre) where open workshops were held every Wednesday, and people were invited to come along and join us making amazing things out of clay, fabric, willow and recycled materials. Here are some pictures from our launch night on July 11th. Click on the pictures for a closer look.
The
Carnival Escape joined forces with ILEAP and the Royal Shakespeare Company to work together and create characters for a carnival procession. The theme of the procession was 'Twelfth Night', and participants joined us for four mornings of workshops with local artists to produce the characters. The procession took place on Monday 27th August through the streets of Stratford, and finished at the Courtyard Theatre where all the characters were exhibited. Thankfully, the weather stayed fine, and a wonderful time was had by all.
The Welcombe Hills Project Working with artists Robin Wade and Matthew Terblanch, the participants created a work using clay and metal to reflect elements of the hills. These materials were chosen to relate to the environment, and for their ability to weather and change with the surroundings. The work now graces the front entrance to the Escape Workshop.
The Willow Project Spencer Jenkins, a green willow artist, worked with the participants to create this seat in memory of the late Colin Harrigan, one of Escape's most enthusiastic participants. Colin attended Escape for several years. Coming to the workshop was one of the highlights of his week, and he loved the garden.
The Mosaic Project Working with artist Ilona Bryan the group designed images related to escape and freedom, using coloured glass mosaic. The garden has recently be redesigned by a group from The Princes Trust, who have incorporated the mosaic project. The space is now transformed into a tranquil and beautiful corner to work in or have a chat over a cup of coffee.
